Implications of COVID - 19

At least one in three of the world’s schoolchildren – 463 million children globally – were unable to access remote learning when COVID-19 shuttered their schools. In many situations, despite remote learning policies and the presence of the necessary technology at home, children may be unable to learn due to skills gaps among their teachers or a lack of parental support. Studies have shown that students could be behind by up to nine months in math.

COVID has created an enormous added stress to all of our lives. Maybe you are living in constant fear for your health and the health of your family and friends, experiencing significant financial implications, feeling more isolated and disconnected, having increased conflict with those at home, and uncertain about the future. During the past year, many have reported increased anxiety, racing thoughts, and a grim future outlook. You are not alone and we can work together to find footing. I am confident I can support you to find ways of grounding yourself, experience feelings of relaxation, and get caught up with all you may have missed.

I can help you both academically and personally to find footing in which to settle and prosper moving forward. We will work on understanding the ways that this new reality has impacted you and start to build a solid foundation in which you can start to recover. Whether our focus is on academics or mental health, we will towards responding rather than reacting, understanding rather than guessing, and building confidence rather than skepticism. Our brains already know how to recover from traumatic events, they simply need the space and encouragement to do what they have evolved to do.
